Policeman spent 2 years getting massive 'Only Fools and Horses' tattoo - but it's spelled wrong

Sam Hall, of the Metropolitan Police, spent 40 hours in the tattooist's chair and over £700 on the massive inking that covers his right ribcage and side

A serving policeman spent two years getting a massive 'Only Fools and Horses' tattoo - only to have 'HOOKY STREET' misspelled.

Sam Hall, 29, of the Metropolitan Police, spent 40 hours in the tattooist's chair and over £700 on the massive inking that covers his right ribcage and side.

The black and white image is supposed to show the cast of the comedy as well as the famed logo and signs for Nelson Mandela House and Hooky Street.

But the street, which features heavily in the closing credits, is misspelled "Hookie Street."

As well as the spelling error but Sam's partner, and mother of his two children, Laura Simmons hates the show because she does not think it is very funny.

Sam, of Eltham, south east London, said: "I started getting it done two years ago - it's my favourite show - every episode is a classic.

"Laura hates it though, and she thinks it's rubbish. But I'm covered in tattoos so she's got to get used to it, I suppose.

"I did lots of research and other people have tattoos of 'Hookie Street', as well as 'Hooky Street' or 'Hookey Street', so I don't think it's wrong."

Sam's huge inking is meant to portray the central character, but many of the images are so distorted they look like different people.

Del Boy looks like greasy car salesman Swiss Toni from the Fast Show sketch comedy, according to one online observer, who also said Boycie looks like the actor who plays Rodney, Nicholas Lyndhurst.

Denzil is almost unrecognisable, while Uncle Albert's big bushy beard makes him look like Father Christmas.
Sam, who is leaving the force after ten years to become a taxi driver, added: "I don't care what people think of it, I love it and that's the main thing.

"The last bit I had done was the writing. It was painful but worth the effort."

The official lyrics of the chorus of the closing theme to the long-running sitcom cite the dodgy market lane as 'Hooky Street.'

Pretty Dead

When new customers walk into Glendale, Arizona’s Ritual Addictions Tattoo and are confronted with Rachelle Nicole Hoffman who is all legs, breasts and horror tattoos more often than not they think she is just the shop girl. Nope, she’s the boss lady. “The look on people’s faces when I tell them that it is my shop, just gives me a little extra push every time to just keep doing my thing in this male dominated business and take it as far as I can,” she says.

Like her body, the shop is horror-themed with every corner housing a huge monster. “I think my favorite thing about horror is the escape from reality,” Rachelle says. “It also really stands out from everything else, it’s not the typical ‘pretty thing.’” And on her the macabre looks quite pretty. “I grew up on horror movies, I remember watching them as young as two years old and loving them. Halloween has always been my favorite time of the year and I figured it would be something I would never get sick of—that’s why I started my sleeve and once it was done I decided to go all out for a full horror movie body suit.” Her tattooer isn’t at her shop, he is Sirris Slay, the owner of Ink Therapy also in Glendale. Their friendship grows as her collection of tattoos flow down her body.

“He did exactly what I was looking for on my leg,” Rachelle says. “I would have to say my Freddy and my Shining pieces are probably at the top of the list. A goal of mine is to get each piece autographed, then tattooed right after, so the autographs I have so far are also up there in my top favorites.”

Grandfather gets 203 characters from The Simpsons inked on his back

A 52-year-old grandfather is hoping his tattoo depicting 203 characters from popular cartoon series The Simpsons will win him a Guinness World Record.
Michael Baxter has spent almost AU$12,000 on getting inked and has been a big fan of the show since its debut.

His bid to be recognised as a world record holder coincides with the series' 25th anniversary on December 17.

The prison officer said he had sat through an eye-watering 130 hours under the needle over the course of a year.

Mr Baxter's favourite character was Homer but his tattoo includes all the main characters - including Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie.

Supporting characters - such as Sideshow Bob, the Comic Book Guy, Ned Flanders, Principal Skinner - are littered among the faces that span across Mr Baxter's back.

The tattoo also depicts scenes and locations of Springfield - home of the world's favourite yellow-skinned family - like Moe's Tavern and the famous couch scene of the opening credits.

'I wanted to get something which was unique, which nobody else had or would even think of getting,' Mr Baxter - who hails from Bacchus Marsh near Melbourne - said.
'I'm a huge fan of the show. I love the tattoo, and I know lots of other people, including my grandchildren, do too.'

To claim his record, Mr Baxter has to depose New Zealand's Lee Weir who has the 'most tattoos of the same cartoon character tattooed on the body'.
Mr Weir has 41 tattoos of Homer Simpson on his left arm.

Despite Mr Baxter's tattoo including lots of different characters, he understands that because all the characters are from the same show, he is eligible to make a claim for the record.

'Guinness have accepted my application, but I have a lot of paperwork to fill out,' he said.

Mr Baxter's tattoo has pushed him onto the international stage, with pictures of his tattoos being spread all over the world via the internet.

A campaign has even launched in the U.S. to persuade The Simpsons producers Matt Groening and James L. Brooks to invite him to appear in animated form on the show.

'I'm recognised everywhere. My friends love it, especially the attention it's now getting. They all think the tattoo's awesome, especially when they see it in the flesh,' Mr Baxter said.

'My wife Sharyn, 50, and daughters Michelle, 31 and Rebecka, 29, love it. My seven-year-old grandson Kohen and my five-year-old granddaughter Milah, think it's fantastic.'
Even Mr Baxter's tattoo artist, Jade Baxter Smith, has been 'overwhelmed' by the attention she has received over her artwork.

'I'm known now as the girl who did "that Simpsons tattoo",' she said.
When Mr Baxter first approached Ms Smith with the idea, she did not take him seriously.

'Michael came to me and said he wanted all The Simpsons characters on his back. I laughed and thought he was joking,' the tattoo artist, who has been working since she was 18, said.

Mr Baxter has volunteered to travel with Ms Smith to tattoo expos since the artwork was completed in 2013.

'I'm happy for Jade to use me to promote her work. We've got the Melbourne expo this week. I go and people take photos,' he said.

Inked Digital Dream Girl: Stefani Chapman

Her Photo Gallery Follows the Text

What do you look for in a guy/what’s your type?
I have always gone by the simple saying, “The way a man treats his mother is the way he will treat his woman.” Nice teeth and lips, clean nails and dope kicks.

How can a guy get your attention?
I like confidence, but not cockiness. If you are funny and can crack me up you have my attention.

This tattooing robot draws perfect artworks on your skin

A team of French designers have adapted a 3D printer and turned it into a tattooing machine that can draw any image onto your skin with pinpoint accuracy.

The machine combines a tattooist's needle and a Makerbot 3D printer. A piece of software lets you take any image - whether it’s a photo or a sketch - and then insert your limb into the printer.

The needle will then automatically move across the skin, puncturing the skin up to 150 times per second, to create the permanent design.

The printing head features a sensor that detects the surface of the skin. This means that the needle follows the contours of the body - only ever piercing the top layers of skin.

The machine was created by design company Appropriate Audiences, made up of Pierre Emm, Piotr Widelka and Johan Da Silviera.

They tested the machine initially on artificial silicone skin, before moving on to a human victim who got a simple circle tattoo.
It was tricky to make sure that the machine could draw a tattoo on a curved surface - after all, humans are not made in straight lines.

Paul Booth, the famous American tattoo artist, is well known for his creepy art work. Paul booth owns a tattoo studio named Last Rites tattoo theater, which is at Manhattan, in New York. Even the studio will seems pretty creepy to most of the people. The studio was enlightened with a very little amount of fluorescent light and the walls are engraved with art works and sculptures of devils, bleeding faces and horrible skulls which just create a ghostly environment.
